The best styler

The Airwrap is impressive if you want quick styling with less heat. It handles waves, curls and smoothing with very little effort. The attachments lock in and out cleanly and the airflow gives a polished finish without that fried feeling. It works best on slightly damp hair. Very straight or very coarse hair may need a bit more patience. The price is high, so it only makes sense if you will use it often and want to cut down on separate tools. When it fits your routine it feels like a smart upgrade, mainly because it speeds everything up and keeps hair looking healthier.

Dyson airwrap

I received this for Christmas a couple of years ago. Can’t go wrong with Dyson, the quality and innovation is there and I think it’s best out of similar products. I use mine daily and ever for my boyfriend to use it so it’s better for hair and not as damaging.

Only hair tool you need!

I honestly don’t know how I managed before the Dyson Airwrap. It makes styling so easy, and I love that I can get smooth, bouncy hair without worrying about damage. It feels gentle but still gives that polished, put-together look I could never get with regular tools.

Beginner Experience with the Dyson on Thick Hair

As someone with naturally thick hair, I was both excited and a little intimidated when I first got my Dyson Airwrap. At first, I worried that styling my heavy, dense hair would take forever or that the curls wouldn’t hold—but after some practice, I can honestly say it’s a game-changer once you know how to use it right. Here’s what I’ve learned that makes a big difference for beginners like me. 1. Start with Damp Hair (Not Wet) The Dyson works best on about 80% dry hair. If your hair is dripping wet, it won’t style properly and will take forever. I usually rough-dry my hair with the pre-styling dryer attachment until it’s just slightly damp. 2. Section Your Hair With thick hair, sectioning is everything. I clip the top layers up and start with the bottom sections first. Smaller sections style faster and give longer-lasting results. 3. Use the Right Barrel & Direction • For curls/waves: I use the long barrels (great for thick or long hair). • For volume: I love the round volumizing brush at the roots. • For a smooth finish: The smoothing brush tames frizz beautifully. Always wrap hair around the barrel in the direction away from your face for that salon look. The Airwrap actually pulls the hair in itself, which makes it easier once you get the hang of it. 4. Master the “Heat + Cool Shot” This step makes curls last: • Hold the heat for about 10–15 seconds. • Press the cool shot button for a few seconds to “set” the curl. Then gently release the curl and let it cool fully before touching it. 5. Don’t Skip Styling Products Thick hair can weigh curls down, so I always use: • A light mousse or heat protectant spray before styling. • A finishing hairspray after styling to lock everything in place. 6. Be Patient & Practice The first time, it took me nearly an hour because I was figuring it out. Now, I can do a full style in 25–30 minutes with thick hair. The more you use it, the faster you’ll get. Final Thoughts For beginners with thick hair, the Dyson can feel like a learning curve at first, but it’s absolutely worth it. It styles without extreme heat, which means my hair looks shinier and healthier than when I used a traditional curling iron or straightener. The key is working in small sections, using the cool shot, and giving curls time to set.
