HELP! How often do I need to exfoliate? (+ Masterclass on Exfoliants 🤩)
The discussion of how often you should use an exfoliant (AHA or BHA) is a much discussed topic. 🗣 Dead skin cells build on the skin surface every day. A mild exfoliant helps remove them so your skin looks as smooth and healthy as possible. ✨ How often you need to use an exfoliant depends on the formula and reaction of your skin. Acid concentration, pH and other supportive ingredients are also very important for a good exfoliant. All of the factors we take with Paula's Choice when we formulate an exfoliant. 👩🏻🔬 For an AHA exfoliant, 5-8% concentration is a good starting point for everyday use, for BHAs this is 2% (tip: go for 1% BHA if you have extra sensitive skin). The most important thing is to keep an eye on how your skin reacts to your AHA or BHA product. With the right formula, daily exfoliation can really be a game changer. 🙌🏽 Of course, you can always exfoliate less when your skin needs it. Acid-based exfoliants remove dead skin cells but they have even more in their march. 💪🏽 They also improve oil release, unclog pores, moisturize the skin and stimulate collagen production. All reasons to add an AHA or BHA exfoliant to your routine. 😍 Note ❗️ Your skin needs to get used to using an exfoliant. Therefore, slowly build up to 1 to 2 times a day in the first weeks. How often you can and want to use it ultimately lies with the need of your skin. Skin care is very personal and with enough experimentation, you can find the right frequency for your skin. 😊 Want to know more about exfoliants? 👀 Follow our Instagram Live Masterclass with Skincare Education Specialist Elsenoor on Monday 22 March at 7:30pm!
